The Strategic Marketing Manager at Dobies Healthcare Group plans, coordinates and directs highly integrated marketing initiatives for clients, either directly or through executive team members. S/he collaborates in and supports the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans for clients, and ensures the professional and timely execution of those plans along with the firm’s communication and creative services teams.
The Strategic Marketing Manager reports to the Vice President of Client & Creative Services, also including daily collaboration with and strategic direction from the Chief Executive Officer & Founder, and President & Chief Strategy Officer. S/he manages and directs multiple high-level projects and serves as a point of contact with select clients. The Strategic Marketing Manager exhibits strong critical thinking and effective decision-making skills, and proficiently connects the dots for both clients and team. S/he acts as primary point of contact secondary to the Vice President of Client & Creative Services in various internal and external meetings and roles as needed.
The Strategic Marketing Manager makes wise, strategic decisions for the client and the firm related to the following key responsibilities:
Lead Select Client Relationships and Provide Overall Project Management
The Strategic Marketing Manager serves as a subject matter expert within the firm on behalf of select clients. S/he collaborates with and supports the firm’s leadership team in providing healthcare clients with advice on effective marketing and positioning strategies. The Strategic Marketing Manager synthesizes and organizes information into client-facing executive-level presentations and reports, and serves in a point of contact and lead project role with select clients as needed to implement strategic marketing plans and creative strategies. S/he operates in a strategy-first manner at all times, and ensures that deliverables meet and exceed client expectations and stated marketing metrics.
Supports Marketing and Positioning Strategies (MAPS)
The Strategic Marketing Manager supports the writing and design of strategic marketing and communication plans and programs for key clients, with the intention of establishing market position, brand differentiation and awareness of the organization among target audiences (B2B and B2C). S/he collects and incorporates consumer research and competitive intelligence, and analyzes market data to guide client marketing and branding initiatives. When necessary, the Strategic Marketing Manager identifies new data sources in response to project/system needs and assists in drawing conclusions and making recommendations based on industry/trends analysis. S/he proposes methods and drafts conclusions that challenge conventional thought while also aligning with the client’s overall business plan.
Manages Timely and On-Budget Execution of Client Deliverables
The Strategic Marketing Manager ensures that the client’s strategic objectives and goals are approved and effectively incorporated into the firm’s content and creative development process. S/he organizes and coordinates content development of major project deliverables with accuracy and clarity, and presents complex concepts and analytical results. S/he is responsible for implementing client marketing plans on a daily basis, collaborating with account, creative and media teams to develop and assess creative concepts, implement on-strategy creative campaigns, track campaign ROI, and measure/monitor client budgets, job profitability and defined key performance indicators.
S/he exhibits timely decision-making skills, effectively sets and manages client priorities, and provides excellent customer service in all interactions. As part of his/her daily responsibilities, s/he will communicate with the firm’s colleagues and supervisor, helping with a broad array of projects inside and outside of assigned clients. The Strategic Marketing Manager demonstrates a team player attitude and a positive approach to maintain collaboration across the firm.
Acts as a Brand Steward
The Strategic Marketing Manager actively engages in new business opportunities and industry networking. S/he proactively serves as a brand steward for the firm and helps to enforce and manage the firm’s brand identity. S/he participates in the firm’s Corporate Social Engagement initiatives and contributes to the firm’s certification as a Healthy KC company.
Special Skills Required:

- Extensive knowledge of the strategic marketing planning process
- Ability to review and analyze a variety of data for purposes of developing marketing strategies and positioning recommendations

- Confident and highly engaged with the fundamentals of marketing, branding and advertising in healthcare

- Bachelor’s degree required: related field, Marketing Communications preferred
- Master’s degree preferred: MBA, MHA or similar
- 5 years of experience in marketing strategy; hospital marketing experience highly preferred, working within a hospital environment
